Tristan Jagger, Founder & Board Chair

Tristan Jagger has spent more than ten years as an accomplished fundraising professional. Prior to founding Vancouver Food Runners in the fall of 2019, she served in both front line fundraising positions and management roles with Big Brothers, United Way of the Lower Mainland, and most recently Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Tristan is a strategic community development leader, dedicating her career to social services. Tristan is a long-standing and active volunteer with a variety of organizations and has a true passion to help food stay out of the waste stream by directly distributing it to organizations that serve those in need. Tristan received her undergraduate degree from McGill University and completed a 12-month business graduate diploma from the University of California, Berkeley.

Debbie Butt, Board Member

Debbie leads the communications, marketing and proprietary fundraising events team for Canuck Place. Working in partnership with families, volunteers, clinical and fundraising staff the communications and events team engages the community, donors and builds awareness of the positive impact of Canuck Place programs on children with lifethreatening illnesses and BC families.

Previously, Debbie was the Director of Communications & Brand for the Rick Hansen Leadership group supporting initiatives of the 25th Anniversary Man in Motion World Tour, Rick Hansen Heroes CTV Special and the key lead on the Difference Maker Series for the London 2012 Games. As Executive Director of the independent not-for-profit Canucks for Kids Fund and Director of Community Partnerships, she led largest NHL-team charity from 2005 to 2010 generating grants of over $14.3 million to BC charities serving children.

Debbie was the Director of Communications for four years for the BC Lions Football Club and held the same title with the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA for a six year tenure and led the Spinoza Bear program for the Grizzlies Foundation. Debbie completed her degree in journalism from Ryerson Polytechnical University after graduating from the University of British Columbia in Human Kinetics.

The Honourable Wendy J Harris, Q.C., Board Member

Wendy is a retired justice of the BC Supreme Court and was a founding partner of Harris & Company, where she was a leading practitioner in the area of school law for over 30 years.

She was appointed to the BC Supreme Court in 2013 and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2008. She was called to the BC Bar in 1980 and has an LLB from the University of BC; an MA from the University of Toronto; and a BA from the University of BC.

Wendy taught education law to graduate school students at the University of BC from 2004 – 2011 and 2018. She has been a frequent lecturer at school boards, universities and professional organizations. She has written extensively on legal issues related to schools

Wendy served as President and Executive Board Member of the Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law in Education(CAPSLE) and was active member in this national organization since its inception. She received a honorary lifetime membership in CASPLE in 2014.

Dr. Debra von Mandl, Board Member

Dr. Debra von Mandl is a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is also the owner of the Acupuncture Now Clinic Inc. and Prospective Medicine since 1996.

Born in Vancouver, Debra is passionate about food as the basis for health and believes deeply in helping communities manage food supplies, so as to eliminate waste and promote preventative basic healthcare for all.

David Jagger, Board Member

Prior to founding The Hazelton Group in 2010, David was an associate with Birch Hill Equity Partners, where he was involved in the acquisitions of Sleep Country Canada and Shred-it International. David served as a Director on the Sleep Country Canada Board of Directors.

Previously, he worked at Merrill Lynch from 2003 to 2006 in the Global Markets and Investment Banking Group. Prior to 2003, David worked at Goldman Sachs in Toronto.

David received his B. Com. from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder.
