Phuong Mai

Program Coordinator

Phuong holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, specializing in Operations Management and Management Information Systems. She is passionate about building thoughtful systems and leveraging technology and innovation to help create stronger, more resilient communities.

She brings over four years of experience in youth programming and service delivery at Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House in the vibrant Hastings–Sunrise community of East Vancouver. During her time there, Phuong supported youth in developing skills and gaining employment experience through the Drive Youth Employment Services (WorkBC) office on Commercial Drive. Across her roles as a Youth Programmer and, notably, as Program Coordinator for the YES CHEF! program, she helped pilot a paid, honorarium-based 10-week cooking employment program for newcomer youth.

Through this work, Phuong developed a deep appreciation for food as a powerful tool for connection. One that brings people together across cultures, languages, and backgrounds. This understanding continues to guide her approach to food security and community-based work.

In her free time, Phuong enjoys attending fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates, and spin, as well as exploring Vancouver’s food scene and trying new restaurants.
